Bell ringer questions students answer by QR code

A bell ringer works when every student answers, not just the three in the front row. Put a QR code on the board as students walk in; by the time you take attendance the whole class has answered and you can see it.

These are subject-neutral, so they work in any class. Swap the topic into the brackets.

Tips from running these live

  • Responses are anonymous to the class, so the honest 'not ready' answers show up.
  • Use the same rating question every Monday and keep the results; you get a simple confidence trend for the term.
  • No phones allowed? One shared tablet at the door works too: students tap and pass it on.
