Getting started
Do voters need to download an app?
No. Voters scan the QR code (or tap a short link) and vote directly in their mobile browser. Zero downloads, zero accounts, zero friction.
Do I need an account to create a poll?
Yes — creators sign up with email, Google, or GitHub in about 15 seconds. Your polls and games live in one dashboard so you can reuse them.
How long does it take to run my first poll?
Under a minute from signup to QR code on screen. The templates page has starting-point formats for icebreakers, retros, feedback, and trivia.
Is there a free plan?
Yes — and while we're in early access, nothing is gated: every feature is available to everyone. Paid plans support development and lock in launch pricing; we'll announce plan limits clearly before any are enforced.
Features & voting
How fast do results appear?
Result views refresh every few seconds while a poll or game is live. Honest answer: it's periodic refresh, not instant push — fast enough for a live room, and we're working on making it faster.
What question types are supported?
Five poll types — multiple choice, yes/no, rating 1–5, open text, and ranked choice — plus live quiz games with timed questions, points, streaks, and a leaderboard.
Can I prevent people from voting more than once?
Yes — per poll, you choose the dedup rule: one vote per device address (IP hash), one vote per signed-in account, or no dedup at all.
Can I moderate open-text responses?
Not yet. Open-text responses appear in your results as submitted. Pre-approval moderation is on the roadmap.
Can I run a live quiz with scoring?
Yes — timed questions, point weighting, streak bonuses, and a live leaderboard. Poll results export to CSV today; per-player game score export is on the roadmap.
Can I customize the look?
Not yet — polls and games currently use QR Polls styling. Custom logos, colors, and branding removal are planned for paid tiers.
Pricing, billing & plans
Can I switch plans or cancel at any time?
Yes. Billing runs on Stripe. There's no self-serve billing portal yet — email hello@qrpolls.com and a human will change or cancel your plan the same day.
Do you offer discounts for education or non-profits?
We don't have an automated verification program yet, but we want teachers and non-profits using this — email hello@qrpolls.com and we'll work something out.
What's your refund policy?
If you're unhappy within 14 days of a charge, email us and we'll refund it in full. We're too small to want an unhappy customer's money.
Do you offer an annual discount?
Yes — yearly billing saves roughly two months on Creator, Pro, and Team.
Security, privacy & compliance
Who owns the data I collect?
You do. Export poll results as CSV or delete a poll — and its responses — at any time from your dashboard.
Are you GDPR or FERPA certified?
Honest answer: we're early-stage and hold no certifications, and we can't sign DPAs yet. What we do instead is collect as little as possible: voters need no account, and voter IPs are stored only as one-way hashes. Details on the /security page.
Do you support SSO?
Creators can sign in with Google or GitHub. SAML SSO for organizations is not available yet.
Where is my data stored?
On managed Postgres in a single region. Regional data-residency options don't exist yet. Every sub-processor is listed on the /security page.
Are responses encrypted?
Traffic is TLS-encrypted in transit, and our managed database provider encrypts data at rest.
Integrations & technical
Does QR Polls work in Zoom, Teams, and Google Meet?
Yes — it's all browser-based. Drop the voting link in chat or screen-share the live results page. No meeting-app install required.
Can I show QR Polls in PowerPoint or Google Slides?
Put the QR code on a slide and keep the live results page open in a browser tab behind your deck. Native slide add-ons don't exist yet.
Do you have an API?
Not yet. A public REST API and webhooks are on the roadmap. Today you can export poll results as CSV.
What's your uptime?
We don't publish an SLA or a status page yet — we're too young for either number to mean anything. When we have real uptime history, it will be public.
What happens if the venue Wi-Fi fails mid-poll?
If a vote fails to send, the voter just taps again once connectivity returns. Client-side vote queueing is on the roadmap but not built.
