How to hold a quick vote at a meeting with a QR code

Make a poll with the options, put the QR code on screen, give the room a minute, then show the result. Each phone gets one vote and nobody sees how anyone else voted.

Set up a meeting vote
  1. 1

Write the motion as a question

Use the exact wording you’ll read out, for example “Approve the 2027 budget?”, and choose Yes / No, or list the candidates as choices.

  2. 2

    Put the code on screen

Show the QR code, and read the short link out loud for anyone who prefers to type it. People vote in their phone browser with no app and no account.

  3. 3

Give it a minute, then close

Watch the response count rise toward the number of people in the room. When it stops, close the poll so the result is fixed.

  4. 4

    Announce and record

Show the bars, read out the numbers, and export the results as CSV for the minutes.

Know the limits before you rely on it

  • One vote per phone stops casual double voting, but it is not identity checking. Someone with two phones could vote twice.
  • For a binding election under your bylaws that needs verified voters or a secret ballot audit, use a dedicated election service or paper ballots.
  • For straw polls, agenda choices, committee decisions and anything where a show of hands would do, it is faster and more private than hands in the air.

Remote members too

Paste the same link in the video-call chat. Everyone votes on the same poll, in the room or at home, and the count is combined.
