QR code for real estate

A yard sign QR code you can point at the next listing.

A printed sign outlasts the listing on it. An editable code lets the same sign open a new listing, a sold page or your agent profile, with no reprint.

Why signs are a good fit for editable codes

Yard signs, window posters and lockbox flyers are reused from listing to listing, and they cost far more to reprint than the code does. The address under a plain code is fixed at print time, which is the wrong shape for a sign that moves from house to house.

Make the sign's code editable. It holds a short qrpolls.link address, and you choose where that address goes. When the property sells, point the same printed code at the next listing, or at your agent page, and the sign keeps working. 3 editable codes are free with an email. After that, $3 CAD once per code.

What the code should open

  • The listing page on your brokerage or your own site, one that works well on a phone. Buyers are standing on the pavement with one bar of signal.
  • A page with photos and the price at the top. A page that opens on a login or a long form loses people.
  • Not a PDF that takes ten seconds to load.
  • A line next to the code that says what scanning gets: "Photos, floor plan and price".

How big to make it on a sign

A buyer in a parked car or on the footpath is 3 to 5 metres away. By the common 10:1 rule of thumb (guidance from QR vendors, not a standard), a short-link code read from 5 metres needs to be about 50 cm wide before the margin. That is more than most signs have room for, so aim for people who walk up to the sign, and use a short link to keep the code simple.

On a window poster or a flyer in a hand, the sizes are much smaller. The size calculator gives the number for your distance and link length.

Weather and print tips

  • Dark dots on a white or light panel, with the blank margin around the code left alone.
  • A matte laminate or coated plastic keeps glare down in bright sun.
  • Use the SVG for the sign shop's file so the dots stay sharp.
  • Scan a printed proof from the distance a buyer will stand at, with two phones, before you order the run.

See which signs get scanned

An editable code counts scans by day, country and device type, never who scanned. If you put different codes on different signs, you can see which street or which open house sent people to the listing.

Questions

Can I change where the sign's QR code goes after it is printed?

Yes, if the code is an editable code. 3 editable codes are free with an email. Each one after that is $3 CAD, paid once. A plain code cannot change.

Is the code free?

Yes. PNG and SVG downloads are free, with no account, no watermark and no ads.

Does the code expire?

A plain code cannot expire. An editable code keeps forwarding even if you stop paying for a plan; editing and new scan stats pause until you come back.

Do I need permission to put a code on a sign?

Rules for signs and for real estate advertising differ by place and by brokerage. Check with your brokerage or regulator before you print.
